Sabudana Tikki Recipe

Navratri Festival is going on and many devotees of mata rani observe the fast during these nine days. So you can make this sabudana tikki as a snack. Also, you can have it any of the year not only in fast. Sabudana Tikki are a delicious snack meal which is made by combining the soaked sabudana with potato and is flavoured with some Indian spices. The patties are then pan fried with a little bit of oil on both the sides till it is crispy and golden brown.

INGREDIENTS : 

PREP TIME : 5-6 HRS        COOK TIME : 15 MIN    TIKKIS : 9-10

  •  Sabudana           –       1 Cup
  •  Potato                 –         2 (Boil)
  • Green Chilli        –         3-4
  • Peanuts               –        3-4 tsp
  • Black Pepper      –        1/2  tsp
  • Lemon                  –        1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds        –        1 tsp powder
  • Curry Leaves               (optional )
  • Salt
  • Oil

STEP BY STEP METHOD WITH PICTURES   : 

STEP 1 :     Wash and soak sabudana for 4 to 5 hours. Drain them completely.  Add boil potatoes.

STEP 2 :      Mashed potato then add Salt, chopped green chilli,  cumin powder, lemon juice, black paper, coriander leaves.

STEP 3  :   Now Add roasted and slightly crushed peanuts.  mix very well.

STEP 4  :   Spread oil on your hand and start shaping the tikkis. Follow the following step which is shown below.

STEP 5   :   Heat oil in a flat non stick pan and place the tikkis and cook it on both the side till it is crisp and golden brown on both the sides.

STEP 6 :   Once cooked from other side, remove them on the paper.  Serve yummy sabudana tikki with curd.

Bati|Batti Recipe Step By Step

Hi All ,

Bati/ Batti  a crisp and melt in mouth. Today i am going to give dal bati recipe in maharashtrian style. This recipe is my mother’s version, that can be made at home, without using any oven or roasting equipment. Its very simple recipe, that you should try, and tastes as good too.

 SERVES :  2-3         PREP. & COOKING TIME :   25-30 MIN

INGREDIENTS : 

  • Wheat flour                         –     1 1/5 cup
  • Rawa/ Semolina                  –     1/2 cup
  • Ghee                                      –      1 tsp
  • Salt                                         –     to taste
  • Ajwain /carom seed            –     1/2 tbsp
  • Oil for frying

STEP BY STEP METHOD WITH PICTURES  : 

STEP 1  :   Combine the whole wheat flour, rawa,ghee, ajwain  in a deep bowl and make a stiff dough. Divide into equal shape. Roll it out into thin puri.

STEP 2 :   First apply oil on roti then follow the step which is shown below.

STEP 3 :     Follow the step which is shown below.

STEP 4 :  Use idli pans or pressure cooker to steam. Apply oil lightly on the bati and steam them for 10 min. then flip bati and steam them for 5-7 min.

STEP 5 :   After cooling, cut each ball into small pieces. Pics shown below.

STEP 6 :  Deep fry in bati on low flame till the pieces turn slightly brown.

STEP 7 :  Serve hot with your favorite Dal.

Aloo patties  with crisp outside soft inside is a real treat to taste buds at anytime. Make this aloo patties by following the step by step pictures recipe.

INGREDIENTS : 

  • Potatoes/aloo                           –     2 (medium size)
  • Green Chillies                         –      2-3
  • Ginger, Garlic paste               –    2 tsp
  • Gram Flour                              –      3-4 tsp
  • Cumin                                        –     1 tsp
  • Corn flour                                 –      2 tsp
  • Asafoetida                                –      pinch
  • Red chilli powder                   –      1/2 tsp
  • Ajwain/carom seed                –     1/2 tbsp
  • fennel/sauf seeds                    –     1/2 tsp
  • Lemon( optional )
  • Coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil For  shallow frying

STEP BY STEP METHOD WITH PICTURES :

STEP 1 :   Grate the potatoes and squeeze out excess water. Add Green chillies, coriander, ajwain, cumin,fennel/sauf seeds and mix well.

 

STEP 2 :  Now add besan/gram flour, salt, red chilli powder, corn flour, Lemon juice(optional ) mix very well.

 

STEP 3 :  Heat non stick flat pan. Shape into flat patty shapes on the palm of your hand. shallow fry  and cook until bottom surface  turn golden brown.

 

STEP 4 :   Turn over and fry the other side of patties.  Once done , then drain the patties on paper towels to remove excess oil.

 

STEP 5 :  Serve the patties hot with ketchup. Best for kids snack.

SERVES : UPTO 45-50               PREP TIME : 25-30 MIN        COOK TIME : 10-15

INGREDIENTS : 

  • all purpose flour                      –   2 cup (200 grams)
  • sugar powder                           –    1 cup
  • butter(normal temp)              –     1 cup
  • coconut (Grated)                     –     1 1/2 cup
  • Vanilla essence                        – Few drops
  •  baking powder                        –   1/2 tsp
  • Water / milk                              –    4-5 tsp
  • Cashew nuts (powder)           –    1 tsp

STEP BY STEP METHOD WITH PICTURES  : 

Step 1 :   Add All purpose flour, baking powder and dry ingredients are ready.

Step 2 :  Combine the butter and powdered sugar in a food processor/Mixer Grander and mix well.

 

Step 3 :  Add the grated coconut and mix well. which shown in below image.

 

Step 4 :   Now add the mix dry ingredients, vanilla essence, water/milk,Cashew nuts powder  and knead the dough which shown in below image.

 

Step 5 :  Make dough roll which is shown below and Keep the dough in refrigerator for 25-30 min.

 

Step 6 :  Take it out of the refrigerator and cut in shape. Arranging the cookies in whatever shape you prefer. Bake the cookies in a pre-heated oven at 180°c (360°f) for 10 -15 minutes.

 

Step 7 :   Allow the cookies to cool completely. Enjoy Eggless coconut cookies.

Namkeen Papdi/Puri Recipe

During festive season like Diwali or Holi we always try to make sweets and snacks at home. Homemade snacks has its own flavour and is different from readymade ones available in market. The recipe that I have shown here Masala Puri is one of the simplest snack dishes. The ingredients are already there in your kitchen. You can store it for 15 to 20 days. These crunchy and crispy papdi  goes really well with a cup of tea.

STEP BY STEP RECIPE WITH PICTURES : 

TOTAL TIME : 30-40 min                 SERVES :  7-8

INGREDIENTS : 

  • whole wheat flour                      –         1 cup
  • all purpose flour                         –         1 cup
  • gram flour                                     –         1/2 cup
  • cumin/jeera seeds                       –         1/2 tsp
  • fennel/sauf seeds                        –          1/2 tsp
  • carom/ajwain seeds                    –         1/2 tsp
  • chilli powder                                 –         1 tsp
  • turmeric powder                          –          1/2 tsp
  • oil                                                     –         3 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • chopped coriander leaves
  • Oil for deep  frying
  • Water as required

METHOD : 

STEP 1 :  Take mixing bowl and add whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, gram flour, cumin seeds,fennel seeds,carom seeds, chilli powder, turmeric powder, oil, salt, mix well.

STEP 2 :  Add in chopped coriander leaves and Mix well all the ingredients together and by adding little water at time knead stiff dough. Use only as much water as required. Once the dough is kneaded keep aside for 5-10 minutes to rest.

STEP 3  :  knead again and then divide the dough into 2 equal balls.  Roll dough ball thin and using cookie cutter,cut different shapes. remove the extra rolled dough and use to make the rest of the papdis. 

STEP 4 :   Heat oil in pan. slid papdi in hot oil and fry them till golden. Drain the fried papas on paper towels to remove excess oil.

STEP 5 :   Once papdi are cooled, store them in an tight container. Enjoy namkeen papdi.

Beetroot Burfi Recipe

Hi All,

Today’s Recipe is the popular Beetroot Barfi/Burfi. Burfi/ Barfi is so delicately soft and elegant to serve on your sweet festive table. It is very nutritious and healthy. Excellent for kids who are usually not found of beetroot. So, Here is step by step Recipe with pictures .

INGREDIENTS : 

Prep. & Cooking Time : 30 -40 Min                Serves : 2 -3 

  • Beetroot                      –    2 ( 2  small bowl grated )
  •  Coconut                      –    1  small bowl grated
  • Sugar                            –    1 small bowl (for less sweet use half bowl)
  • Ghee                             –    2-3 tsp
  • Cashews, Almond
  • Cardamom powder   –   1/2 tsp 

Method Step By Step Pictures : 

Step 1  :  Heat Ghee in a pan. Add grated beetroot , coconut and mix very well. Saute till raw smell leaves,this will take at least 10-12 mins in low flame.

Step 2  :   Now add sugar and keep mixing. Sugar will melt and it will get thick.

Step  3 :    Add Nuts, Cardamom powder and Keep stirring continuously in low flame, it will start to bubble at the edges.

Step 4  :   Keep stirring  for more min and once it is thick and starts to leave little dry this is the perfect stage,Transfer the mixture to the tray.  (Grease a plate/tray with ghee)

Step 5  :  Let it set, cut it into squares. Enjoy Beetroot Burfi/Barfi !

Fish Curry with Coconut Recipe

Fish is one of the favourite sea food at home and its easy to make. Fish is a really nutritious food, rich in protein, vitamins and minerals which are essential to maintain good health. After long time we had a fish curry and its taste yummy. So, lets start fish curry recipe  step by step with pictures.

PREP & COOKING TIME   :   30-40 MIN                SERVES : 2-3 

INGREDIENTS : 

  • Fish                                  –     300gm 
  • Onion                              –     2
  • Ginger,Garlic                – 1 1/2 tsp
  • Coconuts                        –  1 cup 
  • Red chilli Powder          –  1  1/2 tsp 
  • Turmeric powder          –   1 tsp 
  • Garam Masala                –   1/2 tsp 
  • Black pepper                –   2
  • Cardamom                    –    2
  • Clove                               –   1
  • Coriander seeds           –   2-3 tsp
  • Cinnamon                      –   2 small size
  • Green Chilli                    –    1
  • Coriander Leaves          
  • Oil

Step 1 :   Marinate fish with turmeric, very little salt and set them aside.

Step 2  :  Dry roast coriander seeds on low heat till they turn slightly brown in colour and  take it aside. Then heat 1 tsp of oil in a same pan and add slice  onion, cardamom, clove, cinnamon sauce till it turns slight brown in colour.

Step 3 :  Add all above roasted ,fried ingredients and ginger-garlic, coriander, turmeric, red chilli powder, salt, green chilli, garam masala  in a blender and make a smooth paste by adding some water. Keep it aside 

Step 4 :   Grind coconut into a very good paste by adding little water.

Step  5 :   Heat 2-3 tsp of oil in a pan. Add coriander leave. Let them splutter. Then add masala paste and cook till all moisture evaporate.

Step  6 :  Add Coconut paste/Milk and mix well to lump free gravy.  You may need to adjust the amount of water slightly.  On a medium flame boil until the oil begins to separate and the gravy thickens. It will take 5-7 mins. 

Step 7 :   Add the fish pieces to the gravy and cook for few mins. Garnish with coriander leaves. 

Step 8 :  Serve with Chapati or Rice 🙂

Quick Coconut Halwa Recipe

Coconut sweets are loved by almost everyone. These are easy to digest and high on nutrition. Coconut halwa is one such dessert which can be made in just a few minutes and it’s absolutely yum! It can be made for fasts as well. In fact, fasting becomes easy and fun when you have lots of yummy snacks to munch. Sweet tooth people like me love to have desserts. Let’s see step by step recipe of coconut halwa with pictures.

Preparation & Cooking Time: 20 Minutes

INGREDIENTS : 

  • Coconut shred                 –   100 gm
  • Sugar                                  –   1/2 cup
  • Cardamom powder        –   1/2 tsp
  • Water                                 –    1 cup
  • Milk                                    –    1 tbsp

Step 1  :  Take a non-stick pan and put the coconut shred in it. Fry it for 3-4 minutes.

Step 2  :  When the coconut turns golden, remove it from fire.

Step 3 :  Now prepare sugar syrup. Boil water in a thick bottom pot.

Step 4 :  Add sugar in it and keep stirring till it boils. Add milk to the boiling sugar syrup. Now also add the fried coconut shred in it.

Step 5 :   Keep stirring till the coconut and sugar syrup get mixed well. Finally add ghee and green cardamom powder in this mixture. You can garnish the coconut halwa with grated almonds or pistachios or any other fry fruits of your choice for a beautiful look. Relish mouth watering coconut halwa.

Chilli Soya Chunk Recipe Step By Step Pictures

  • Capsicum                                                    –     1 Big size

  • Soya Sauce                                                  –     3 tsp 
  • Red chilli paste                                          –    1 1/2 tsp 
  • Ketchup                                                        –   2 tsp 
  • Ginger garlic Paste                                    –   2 tsp

  • Kashmir Red chilli Powder                  –    1/2 tsp

SOYA BEAN CHILLI  RECIPE STEP BY STEP PICTURES : 

Step 1  :    Boil water, switch off and add soya chunks to it and keep aside for 10mins.  Then Squeeze out excess water.

Step 2 :  In a bowl take soya chunk, cornflour, 1 tsp ginger garlic paste, green chilli paste, 1  tsp soya sauce, salt, Kashmir red chilli powder and mix well. Keep aside for 15 min.

Step 3  :   Heat a pan with oil, add 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste,  onions and saute for a good couple of mins till the onion is soft.

Step 4 :    Then add capsicum , Onion, black pepper powder and Fry for 2-3 mins on medium heat until the red chillies turn brown and the onions get transparent.

Step 5 :   Add Soya sauce, red chilli paste, tomato ketchup, salt mix well.

Step 6 :   Now Add marinated soya chunk and mix everything well. Cover and cook for 2-3 min on medium flame.

EGGLESS COOKIES RECIPE STEP BY STEP PICTURES : 

PREP TIME : 20-25 MIN       COOKING TIME : 10-15 MIN   SERVES : 2-3 

INGREDIENTS :  

  • Butter/Ghee                                          –  1/2 Cup
  • All purpose flour/ Maida                  –  1 cup
  • Powder Sugar                                        –  1/2 cup
  • Corn Flour                                             –  1/4 cup
  • Vanilla Essence                                   –  1 tsp
  • Milk                                                         –  1 tsp
  • Cashew nut, Pistachio Chopped
  • Salt                                                          –  2 cups

Step 1 :  In mixing bowl, add  butter/ghee and Powder sugar, start beating it/cream until fluffy.

Step 2  :   Add the milk and vanilla, and mix well.

Step 3 :   Add in the Corn flour and maida/plain flour  and get your hands in to make a sticky mass of dough, just mix till combined.

Step 4 :   Cover and refrigerate freezer for 10 mins.

Step 5  :   Heat up a  pressure cooker with 2 cups salt, a wire stand and a perforated plate for 10 mins. Remove the whistle of pressure cooker..

Step 6 :  Dust your working surface with some flour and get the dough out and smooth it out. Show in below pics

Step 7 :   Make the cookies in any way, either make small portions of this and place on a baking tray or roll it out to ½ inch and cut it out using cookie cutters.

Step 8 :    Place on a baking tray or  plate lined with butter paper and sprinkle chopped  nuts and press little..

Step 9  :    Place the trays in the cooker  and bake for 15-20 mins.

Step 10 :   Let them cool in the tray and enjoy!
