During festive season like Diwali or Holi we always try to make sweets and snacks at home. Homemade snacks has its own flavour and is different from readymade ones available in market. The recipe that I have shown here Masala Puri is one of the simplest snack dishes. The ingredients are already there in your kitchen. You can store it for 15 to 20 days. These crunchy and crispy papdi goes really well with a cup of tea.
STEP BY STEP RECIPE WITH PICTURES :
TOTAL TIME : 30-40 min SERVES : 7-8
whole wheat flour – 1 cup
all purpose flour – 1 cup
gram flour – 1/2 cup
cumin/jeera seeds – 1/2 tsp
fennel/sauf seeds – 1/2 tsp
carom/ajwain seeds – 1/2 tsp
chilli powder – 1 tsp
turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
oil – 3 tsp
salt to taste
chopped coriander leaves
Oil for deep frying
Water as required
STEP 1 : Take mixing bowl and add whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, gram flour, cumin seeds,fennel seeds,carom seeds, chilli powder, turmeric powder, oil, salt, mix well.
STEP 2 : Add in chopped coriander leaves and Mix well all the ingredients together and by adding little water at time knead stiff dough. Use only as much water as required. Once the dough is kneaded keep aside for 5-10 minutes to rest.
STEP 3 : knead again and then divide the dough into 2 equal balls. Roll dough ball thin and using cookie cutter,cut different shapes. remove the extra rolled dough and use to make the rest of the papdis.
STEP 4 :Heat oil in pan. slid papdi in hot oil and fry them till golden. Drain the fried papas on paper towels to remove excess oil.
STEP 5 :Once papdi are cooled, store them in an tight container. Enjoy namkeen papdi.
Today’s Recipe is the popular Beetroot Barfi/Burfi. Burfi/ Barfi is so delicately soft and elegant to serve on your sweet festive table. It is very nutritious and healthy. Excellent for kids who are usually not found of beetroot. So, Here is step by step Recipe with pictures .
Prep. & Cooking Time : 30 -40 Min Serves : 2 -3
Beetroot – 2 ( 2 small bowl grated )
Coconut – 1 small bowl grated
Sugar – 1 small bowl (for less sweet use half bowl)
Ghee – 2-3 tsp
Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
Method Step By Step Pictures :
Step 1 : Heat Ghee in a pan. Add grated beetroot , coconut and mix very well. Saute till raw smell leaves,this will take at least 10-12 mins in low flame.
Step 2 : Now add sugar and keep mixing. Sugar will melt and it will get thick.
Step 3 : Add Nuts, Cardamom powder and Keep stirring continuously in low flame, it will start to bubble at the edges.
Step 4 : Keep stirring for more min and once it is thick and starts to leave little dry this is the perfect stage,Transfer the mixture to the tray. (Grease a plate/tray with ghee)
Step 5 : Let it set, cut it into squares. Enjoy Beetroot Burfi/Barfi !
Cookies are also a wonderful jar snack to have at home and sudden hunger pangs. Nothing much to say about these cookies – just give them a try and enjoy a super moist, chewy cookies with the right amount of sweetness. Potato Cheese Balls is a perfect starter recipe and will be loved by all age groups and kids will love it for sure as it has the best combination of Potato and cheese in it.
Now let me tell you one more important thing. If you are planning to do this, try to make it in double batches. You can have half of that instantly and half you can freeze for enjoying later. Take these balls and arrange it in a tray, put the tray in the freezer for 30 minutes until the balls get a little firm. Now transfer this to a zip lock bag and freeze it for later use. Now you have a handy snack whenever you have a cheesy cravings.
STEP BY STEP CHEESE POTATO RECIPE WITH PICTURES :
PREP & COOKING TIME : 30 MIN SERVES : 3-5
Cheese – Half cup Grated
Potato – 3
Green chilli – 2
Ginger Garlic paste – 1 tsp
Black pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala – 1/4 tsp (optional)
Lemon juice – 1 tsp
Corn flour – 1 1/2 tsp
All purpose flour – 1 1/2 tsp
Gram flour/besan – 1 tsp (optional)
Chat masala (optional)
Oil for frying
Step 1 : Boil potatoes in pressure cooker and Mash the boiled potatoes in a bowl. Add Coriander leaves, ginger garlic paste, chopped green chillies, black pepper powder, salt, garam masala (optional) and mix well.
Step 2 : Add garam flour/besan , All purpose flour, corn flour and grated cheese, lemon juice. mix very well .
Step 3 : Make small balls from the mixture and make one tiny ball to test while frying.
Step 4 : Heat oil, deep fry the balls in oil till golden brown. Fry in batches, I used my small pan so fried just 3-4 balls at a time. Drain in tissue paper and sprinkle some chat masala (optional) . (with a slotted spoon, turn over when the balls become golden.)
Step 5 : Serve hot with Sauce, Chutney, Ketchup. Enjoy !!
